King Kunsaw Kyaunghpyu

Ruling Years : A.D (964 - 986)

King Kyaunghpyu was the son of King Tannet. When Prince Sale Minkhwe assassinated his father, he had to run to the white monastery with his Queen mother.

He gained back his father's throne in 964. As a legend, King Kyaunghpyu was said to be helped by Sakra to become the king.

He accepted the three queens of King Saw Yahan but that led him to disaster. The queens had three sons, Kyi Soe, Sakkatay and Anawrahta. He ruled over Bagan for about 22 years. In A.D 1013, he was forced to become a monk by the two princes, Kyi Soe and Sakkatay - the sons of the late king, and was left in a monastery. He died in A.D 1048.
