King Narathu

Ruling Years : A.D (1160 - 1165)

After the success assasination of his King father Alaung Sithu, the Crowned Prince Narathu ascended the throne of Bagan. He was the son of Queen Yadanarbon. He wa born on 24 March 1117. King Narathu had a brother called Min Shin Saw. Min Shin Saw was known to be cruel and bad, so he was sent to another place as an exile.

But he wanted to avenge that and even tried to assassinate his father. The assassination was not successful but he got a few days as the King of Bagan. Then again he was assassinated by his own brother Narathu. King Narathu had two queens known as Myaut Pyin The and Si Khone The. Queen Myaut Pyin The had a son called Narapati Sithu. There was no children with Queen Si Khone The. King Narathu completed the donation and construction of Dhammayangyi Pagoda.

King Narathu was assassinated by the King of Sri Lanka. At the time, Bagan and Sri Lanka did not have good relationships and they were always on attack against one another. Bagan was undertaken by the Sri Lankans for a few days.
